KS Energy Services

The Investment

CIVC Partners has teamed with management and True North Equity to acquire KS Energy Services, a leading provider of outsourced maintenance, repair and installation services to the utility industry. As part of the transaction, five members of the KS Energy management team made investments in the Company alongside CIVC, demonstrating their long-term commitment to KS Energy’s growth prospects and superior business model. CIVC provided the majority of the equity capital required.

The Company

KS Energy Services is a leading provider of outsourced maintenance, repair and installation services for blue-chip natural gas and electric utilities. KS Energy is primarily focused on the energy distribution end-market (“last mile” delivery to the consumer), but continues to expand into transmission-related services to provide a comprehensive service offering. The Company maintains the reputation as one of the leading contractors in the industry due to its experienced management team, comprehensive service platform, flexible and cross-trained employees, and outstanding safety record. The Company is headquartered in New Berlin, Wisconsin and maintains offices in Madison and Denmark, Wisconsin and Houston, Texas.

Value-Add Approach

The investment in KS Energy represents another example of CIVC’s investment strategy of partnering with experienced management teams at market-leading companies in high growth business services industries. The KS Energy management team built a prior company into a leading utility services platform, which provided the team with substantial industry experience and a diverse set of relationships. CIVC’s extensive experience with business services companies was a strong selling point for the sellers and will help the Company capitalize on the strong growth expected in the utility services industry over the next 5-10 years. CIVC will provide strategic guidance to management and has committed growth capital to support an acquisition strategy that will diversify the Company’s customer base, increase its presence throughout the United States, and broaden its service offering.
