EN Engineering

The Investment

CIVC Partners has partnered with management to acquire EN Engineering (“ENE” or the “Company”), a leading energy-focused professional services firm headquartered near Chicago. As part of the transaction, ENE’s entire senior management team made an investment alongside CIVC, demonstrating their long-term commitment to ENE’s growth prospects and superior business model. CIVC provided the majority of the required equity capital.

The Company

ENE is a leading energy-focused professional services firm providing engineering, consulting, automation and integrity management services to the natural gas, liquid petroleum and related industrial markets. ENE is unique in its ability to provide a full suite of distribution, transmission, automation, and integrity management services, which facilitates deep customer relationships and significant cross-selling opportunities. The Company delivers its services through over 350 highly trained full-time employees. ENE is headquartered near Chicago in Woodridge, IL, with additional offices in Baltimore, Denver, and Kansas City. For additional information about EN Engineering, visit www.enengineering.com.

Value-Add Approach

The investment in ENE represents another example of CIVC’s investment strategy of partnering with experienced management teams at market-leading companies in high growth business services industries. In particular, the ENE transaction builds on CIVC’s continued efforts in the outsourced utility and infrastructure services sector. In June 2010, CIVC acquired KS Energy Services, an outsourced maintenance, repair, and installation services company serving natural gas and electric utility companies in the Midwest. In June 2011, CIVC renamed KS Energy Services to PowerTeam Services and acquired Southeast Connections, an outsourced maintenance and repair services provider for natural gas utilities in the southeast region of the United States. CIVC’s industry experience was a strong selling point for the ENE management team and will help the Company capitalize on the strong growth expected in the utility services industry. CIVC will provide strategic guidance to management and has committed growth capital to support an acquisition strategy that will diversify ENE’s customer base, increase its presence throughout the United States, and broaden its service offerings.

If you have an opportunity that might be an add-on acquisition candidate for ENE or might fit with our business services focus, please contact Chris Perry or John Compall.
